The Group was founded in 1997 by Jayne Morris and Elaine Parker when they decided to put their child care experience into practical business use and set up The Laurels Nursery School in Queniborough. The Laurels Nursery School began life as a small 26 place Nursery catering for children under 5 in a renovated Victorian building on the Melton Road. Demand for places was catered for by increasing the registered numbers up to 50 in 1999, and following conversion of a coach house in the grounds up to 80 children in 2001.
In April 2000, a second Nursery was purchased in Melton Mowbray. The Nursery had been established for 10 years and was registered for 28 children. Again, the high standards of child care on offer brought sufficient demand to increase registration to 59 and it is now called The Melton Mowbray Nursery School.
In 2001, the management of the business was expanded with the appointment of Jon Morris as Finance Director. Jon had 28 years experience in corporate banking with NatWest Bank and a further 3 years as the Finance Director of a Leicestershire based PLC finance company.
The business then continued to expand between 2002 and 2006 by purchasing three established Nurseries, one in Oadby, one in Stoneygate Leicester and one in Market Harborough to consolidate a strategy of being a county wide based Nursery business.. Little Foxes Day Nursery in Oadby is registered for 22, in Stoneygate, Little Acorns Nursery is currently registered for 49 children and the most recent acquisition was The Sunflowers Day Nursery in Market Harborough which was purchased from the BUPA owned Teddies Nurseries in April 2006. This purpose built nursery was newly established in 2003 and now has registration for 71 children.
