On Thursday 22nd December the children in Sunflowers and Poppies will be holding their fancy dress Christmas party between 3.00pm & 4.30pm.

Parents, if your child does not attend Nursery during these sessions, you are most welcome to bring them along and stay to join in with the festive fun.

Summer Activities

During the summer months Sunflowers and Poppies will be taking part in our mini Wimbledon day. We have arranged for a tennis coach to come along to help the children improve their hand eye- coordination and tennis skills.

A treat of Strawberries and cream in the garden will follow the matches!

We are also organising an Hawaiian Day on Tuesday 26th July so the children can dress up in their party summer clothes and join in the Hawaiian theme including hula hooping, limbo dancing and making tropical fruit smoothies.

Carols by Candle Light

The children will be singing Christmas Carols by candle light in the garden on Wednesday 14th December.

Parents or Grandparents are very welcome to come along and enjoy a warm mince pie and mulled fruit punch whilst joining in with the carols!

Christmas Lunch!

Mary, our Nursery cook, will be preparing the children a delicious traditional Christmas lunch on Friday 23rd December.

Sunflowers' Christmas Performance

Following the success of last years Christmas Play, the children in Sunflowers will be performing 'The First Christmas' on Tuesday 20th and Wednesday 21st December. Everyone involved is enthusiastically rehearsing Christmas songs and looking forward to dressing up in festive costumes. Parents will receive invitations for the performances nearer the time.

Other Christmas information to note!

Festive Competition

Our festive competition this year is called „design a Christmas Bauble‟. All the children can enter if they wish and it is an ideal opportunity for your child to be creative at home. The baubles will need to be brought along to Nursery no later than Tuesday 13th December and all entries will be displayed on the Christmas tree in the hallway.

Nic will be selecting a winner and awarding a special prize for the most creative bauble but all the children who enter will receive a certificate for their efforts.

Community Event – Christmas Tree Festival

For the 9th year running, St Mary‟s Church is holding a Christmas Tree Festival and our Nursery is being sponsored by the The Laurels Group of Nurseries to decorate a tree. All the children will be involved in making decorations for our tree which will be on display from Friday 2nd December to Tuesday 6th December.

Sporting Event

On Tuesday 2nd August the children will be showing their developing sporting abilities by taking part in our annual mini sports day event. The programme for the afternoon will involve running, jumping and throwing activities and medals will be presented to all the children taking part. Parent/Carers are very welcome to come along and provide encouragement to the ‘budding athletes’. Non alcoholic fruit cocktails will be served.

Fees 2012

We are delighted to be able to confirm that there will be no increase in fees at The Melton Mowbray Nursery School in January!

We have given the matter a great deal of thought and we bear in mind the very difficult climate that everyone is facing, but we do not wish to make parents and carers financial balancing act more difficult by adding to their existing childcare costs. The freeze in fee scales will be put in place until October 2012 when it will be reviewed when we know the extent of the Governments minimum wage figure which has the main effect on our own costs as a business.
