The Nursery accommodates the babies and toddlers on the ground floor and 2 to 3 year olds on the first floor. Our pre-school children are cared for in the "Coach House Classrooms", where there are many planned activities focusing on both the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) and "Every Child Matters" Government initiatives. Outdoors there is a design built "soft play" corral with climbing equipment, a large hard surface area for riding trikes and cozy coupes and a shady lawned garden for all ages to enjoy fine weather activities outdoors. In 2010, the Nursery added a sensory area and a fruit and vegetable patch to further advance the opportunity for children to learn through play, as well as bringing in a qualified Yoga teacher for the nursery children to gain more from this type of physical activity.
The Laurels provides delicious, healthy meals and fresh fruit snacks throughout the day lovingly prepared by our cook who has also attained the Gold Food Hygiene Certificate issued by Environmental Health. In 2011 the Nursery was awarded “Healthy Tots” accreditation to demonstrate our commitment to giving children a healthy start in their childcare provision.
The Laurels prides itself on maintaining a core of well trained and highly motivated staff led by an experienced Nursery Manager who is the main point of call for Parental queries or concerns.
In 2010, our Ofsted inspection highlighted "outstanding" awards in:-
